What is the impact of the crisis on e-commerce recruitment?
Among the areas that stand out strongly, there are logistics, Tech, B to B and the rise of marketplaces that create new opportunities.
Since the start of the crisis, there has been a big collapse in companies linked to the tourism sector, which weighs heavily on e-commerce. Today we can see a very strong rise in the power of retail. 57% of e-commerce turnover is made with physical products, 44% last year in the 1 st semester. There is really very strong growth in physical e-commerce.
This has direct consequences on recruitment, companies need a whole background logistics.
What are the areas that stand out in particular?
There are for today:
- Logistics, first area, far ahead of the others (26,000 open recruitments in e-commerce according to study)
We are seeing strong demand at Altaide in these logistics professions.
- Recruitments in Tech are always very strong, on more specialized profiles.
- We continue to have needs in Data.
- Also on the rise of B to B, with the creation of posts for e-commerce managers or specialists (traffic manager, etc.)
The use of marketplaces continues to gain momentum, covid has been an accelerator (beyond 40% growth despite the crisis)
We can see this in the positions of marketplace manager, marketplace sales representatives, etc.
Has the crisis changed anything in the profiles sought?
Not particularly in terms of skills, on the other hand, companies realized that they had perhaps neglected the candidates’ soft skills: personality, resistance to pressure at the time of a crisis, agility.
We feel that the clients who entrust us with a mission are even more attentive to this, there is a reinforcement on this which satisfies us at Altaide since this has been a workhorse for us for 20 years: Performance depends on the skill and soft skills!
What are the most popular soft skills?
- Autonomy
- Rigor in the organization
- Agility
As teleworking is very strongly maintained, these soft skills take on their full meaning.
All levels of experience are sought after?
Some professions, such as in Data, will require experience. For the rest, the level has not risen particularly with the crisis. Today, however, companies are paying a little more attention to their recruitments and the level of demand is rising. They are looking for people who meet their criteria in terms of value and soft skills.
Does this upsurge in recruitments have an impact on salary levels?
Companies remain cautious! Even those who have greatly developed their turnover during the crisis and have real recruitment needs will be careful.
